Recruitment opens for key role in new body in charge of meeting health and care needs of Bradford district

The search is on for an independent chair to bring “objectivity, independence and challenge” to a new board tasked with managing more than £1 billion meeting the healthcare needs of Bradford District and Craven.

Under changes being made this summer to how NHS services are funded, planned and delivered, a partnership board is being set up for Bradford District and Craven to agree a plan to meet the health needs of the local population, and allocate resources and commission services to meet those needs.

The Bradford District and Craven Partnership Board, a committee of the new West Yorkshire Integrated Care Board, will be made up of senior leaders from the local authority, NHS provider trusts, primary care, care sector and the voluntary and community sector.

The independent chair will play a key role in ensuring that the committee takes transparent, efficient, effective and safe decisions that make effective use of NHS resources. They will not have an ongoing leadership role (hold executive, non-executive or elected positions or offices) at a health or social care organisation within Bradford District and Craven.

Ideally, they will have “experience of governance committee delivery and development in a regulated environment as well as a background in effective meeting facilitation at a senior level with a focus on financial oversight, effective use of resources and the achievement of social outcomes”.

Applications are welcomed from people from the public, private, voluntary and community, social economy and academic sectors.

The partnership board says: “You’ll be joining a partnership that is proud of its people, its history and with an ambitious vision centred around keeping people ‘happy, healthy at home’. Bradford District and Craven is extremely diverse in relation to its people, place and experiences: a rich mix of nationalities, ethnicities, gender, ages, physical abilities, economic status and faiths.

“This diversity really is our strength and we’d be looking for someone who can harness the potential we have across our place. As well as being a place recognised for its strong relationships (through Act as One), we are internationally recognised for our innovation and research and are proud of the entrepreneurial spirit that drives our communities forward. We know that we also have deep rooted challenges such as tackling stubborn inequalities so that we can create a fairer and equal society for all.”
