People warned over delays to some NHS services as COVID-19 booster campaign ramps up
The Government has set targets for offering boosters to tackle the "emergency" posed by the Omicron variant of the virus, which means some local NHS staff will need to be redeployed away from non-urgent services to support the vaccination programme or other urgent services and treatments.
Bradford District and Craven Clinical Commissioning Group said: "We are still here to help but you may experience a delay for some services or find other non-urgent appointments and treatments postponed.
"We are vaccinating as many people as we can across our district and need people to come forward, whether it’s for your first, second or booster dose we are ready to vaccinate you.
We are focusing on answering the national call to deliver the ramped-up vaccination programme. This means some NHS staff will need to be redeployed away from non-urgent services to support the vaccination programme or other urgent services and treatments. GP practices across our district and up and down the country will be focussing on urgent clinical need and delivering the COVID-19 vaccine. This means non-urgent appointments and elective surgery may be postponed whilst we vaccinate adults across the district.
Adults aged 18 and over who have had their first and second dose are being urged to have their booster dose. Without the added protection from this third dose, NHS beds will quickly fill up and the long-term damage to the economy and affect the NHS as we look to recover from the pandemic.
Members of the public are reminded to be kind and patient with NHS staff, who are "working round the clock during these challenging times".
